My fantasy short story, “Forestborn,” is in Event Horizon 2018.
Event Horizon 2018 is…
An anthology of science fiction and fantasy works by authors eligible for the 2018 John W. Campbell Award for Best New Writer.
The John W. Campbell Award for Best New Writer is presented annually at WorldCon to an outstanding author whose first professional work of science fiction or fantasy was published within the previous two years. This anthology includes over 75 authors and nearly 400,000 words of fiction.
So that’s about 690 pages of quality fiction, for free! Only available for a limited time.
If you’re quick, you can grab a free digital copy on instafreebie (the link still works though it’s past July 15th).
My short story, “My Mother’s Gingerbread” is up at Lit Up/Medium.
It’s a bit experimental in nature and includes a traditional Scandinavian gingerbread recipe—my favourite.
The story’s also currently featured on Lit, chosen by the Medium staff.
My story “Forestborn” has been published in the second issue of Gamut. If you have a subscription, I’d love for you to read it.
This is my first pro sale!

“I am forestborn,” the girl with a wild bird’s nest for hair said to me. “I can’t live in houses.”
